Best morning coffee or breakfast
Ulladulla has a great selection of cafes down by the harbour. Native serves delicious, heathy whole-food breakfasts and great smoothies, but for the best coffee, you can’t go past the Treehouse Café. They serve direct trade, organic Art of Espresso coffee that’s sure to put a spring in your step, as well as great breakfasts with range of gluten-free and vegan options.
Best beach
Again, you’re spoilt for choice. Rennie’s Beach is good for families, while Racecourse Beach, over the road from the park, is better for surfing. For something a little different, try Outer Beach where you’ll find the Ulladulla Sea Pool. There’s no lifeguard, but it’s free and the kids will love it! It’s open from November to April.
Best local activity
If you like getting out on the water, try a game fishing charter. If you prefer your adventures on dry land, admire the views from Warden Head Lighthouse or comb the shoreline rocks in search of a find on the Gondwana Coast Fossil Walk.
Best day trip
Visiting Hyams Beach is a must. Its sugar-white sands are a sight to see and, according to the Guinness Book of World Records, the whitest in the world. It’s less than an hour’s drive from Ulladulla, so sneak in an extra stop at Boat Harbour Beach at Bendalong Point betweenMay and October to find friendly stingrays flapping about in the shallow water eager to eat right out of your hand.
Best spot to watch the sun go down
Just a five-minute drive from the park, and right on the harbour, The Ruse Ulladulla is a great spot to watch the sun go down. If you feel like splurging on some delicious fine dining seafood, try Rick Stein at Bannisters in neighbouring Mollymook. Or, for a more casual option, grab some fish and chips from the Ulladulla Fishermen’s Co-op and find a prime spot to sit at the water’s edge.
Somewhere only the locals know
Bogey Hole is a great tidal rock pool perfect for swimming, and aptly named as you’ll find it at the water’s edge beside the Mollymook Golf Course. Another top tip is to try Hayden’s Pies. It’s only 2 minutes from the park, so you might be lucky enough to stumble across it by accident but it’s a great choice for a quick and easy lunch.
